I have been painting ceramic tile murals since 1976. I use the tiles a canvas. When I started out, the colors in underglazes were not vibrant enough when glazed over. So I started using the individual jars of glazes, which require several coats to paint all the detail in my paintings.

I love this medium as the outrageous variety of colors of the glazes, when fired, have such vibrant richness and depth in their melted thick glass-like texture. When the painting is fired it is preserved forever. I never quite know what the results will be when fired. I am always surprised as nothing is predictable. I can begin the creation but the kiln, to me, is the final artist.

I have done custom work as individual paintings, tile panels and single tiles, and on request murals and borders to be mounted as installations on order through tile stores in New York and throughout Long Island.
