Not too long ago I retired from a twenty-five year career as an elementary school art teacher. I returned to something that I hadn't done for many of those years: I picked up my brushes and started to paint again. This has been both a new adventure and a return to my roots as an artist.

Drawing, painting and creating art have always been a part of my life. I studied at  Pratt Insititute and received my Masters degree in Art from Adelphi University. I have also studied at the Brooklyn Museum, The Art Students League, The Boca Museum Art School in Florida, and at Haven Art in Port Washington, to name a few.

I work mainly in acrylics, often including elements of collage and mixed media. I have explored abstract expressionism and representational work as in my landscapes and figure studies. Recently, I have been focusing my painting on the traditional motif of still life. My work in still-life explores the interplay of shape, negative spaces and shadows among arrangements of familiar objects. To represent the tranquility that comes from balancing these inter-relationships, as well as the infinite variety and complexity that can be found in them,is part of the endless possibilities in the making of art. To me, this is the challenge.
